The project ‘Rede Aproximar – Projeto de Apoio à População Idosa’ aims to minimise the impact of social isolation and loneliness among the Portuguese elderly, contributing to the promotion of their biopsychosocial and spiritual well-being.
The Institute of Education, University of Minho, within the scope of its mission in the area of knowledge of Education and related fields, mobilising a team of teachers, students and researchers from the Master’s Degree in Education – Adult Education and Community Intervention, has developed a socio-educational and community intervention project aimed at the elderly population in a situation of social isolation, aggravated as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Using information and communication technologies, the project, through the social network Facebook, aims to develop activities in 4 areas: i) cognitive stimulation; ii) motor stimulation; iii) culture, art and tradition; iv) lifelong education.
